You Need Help: Top 10 Reasons to Hire Startup Marketing Experts

  1. If the home page of your website doesn’t tell me what you do in less than 15 words, you need help.
  2. If you can’t name your top 5 keywords, you need help.
  3. If you require ten fields of data to be entered before someone can download a free brochure, you don’t want business that bad (and you need help).
  4. If there aren’t at least three customers named on your website, I assume you don’t have any.  You need help.
  5. If my mother cannot pronounce the name of your company, you need help.
  6. And if after saying the name of your company, my mother asks how to spell it, you need to help.
  7. If a potential customer can’t figure out how to call an actual person at your firm, you need help.
  8. If I can’t find an email address for an officer of the company, management clearly doesn’t want new business (and therefore, you really need help).
  9. If the front of your business card doesn’t clearly convey what business you’re in, you need help.  And, you don’t get to print on the back.
  10. If the person who answers your phone can’t tell me what problem your product solves, you need help.

    Great tips, I notice some brand positioning, seo, customer service and sales 101 tips thrown in. I agree with the overall message of this post – clarity is very important for a startup – if people can’t tell what you do in an elevator pitch, your business is as good as gone.
